Takahide Umeda’s page
Umeda is a psecialist in electron spin resonance spectroscopy and wishes to apply this technique especially to the lower power consumption of semiconductor devices. This research interest might be the reflection of Umeda's personal interests; Umeda enjoys mountain skiing, rock climbing, and canyoning as shown in the pictures and movie files on this page, which are rather intense mountain activities. And I think of myself as one of "nature lovers". When I go mountain skiing and am on the top of a mountain in the fine weather, looking at the snow-covered slope I am about to ski down, I feel very happy (If it is the powder snow, It couldn't be better!). At the same time, as it almost always happens on these occasions, I think of my work. It may sound too big, but I wonder "Hmm... is my work contributing to the nature like this?" In this way, I am interested in doing some kind of ecological work to synthesize the situation of my work and personal interests.
梅田は電子スピン共鳴法の専門家で、この手法を特に「半導体デバイスの低消費電力化」の問題に応用したいと思っています。それには１つ、梅田の個人的な趣味も影響しているかもしれません。梅田の趣味は「山スキー」「沢のぼり」「フリークライミング」といった少しディープな山登り活動で、自分はいわゆる「自然が好き」な部類の人間かと思っています。山スキーをやりに行って、好天の山頂にいて、今これから滑る斜面（それがパウダーだと本当に最高です）をボーっと眺めていると本当に幸せを感じます。と同時に、ほとんど毎回なのですが、そういう山頂で自分の仕事のことも頭に思い浮かぶのです。大げさなのですが、「う～ん。私の仕事はこの自然に役に立っているかな？」と。だから、仕事と趣味の2つの状況をいくらか結びつけるために、ちょっと「エコ」な仕事がしたいのだと思います。
